Great Bend Regional Hospital has appointed Robert Bilak to Chief Human Resources Officer. In his new role, Bilak is responsible for the hospital’s human resources strategies, programs and performance for over 300 employees.
A 20-plus year human resources veteran, Bilak began his career in Rochester, N.Y., as a human resources manager with Verizon.  Intrigued by the legal aspect of HR, he joined a law firm as a legal analyst supporting HR corporate law. Bilak was then recruited and asked to move to NYC for an opportunity as an HR Director with JetBlue Airways from 2001 to 2012.  Working for a start-up airline was an exciting venture, he said. It brought many challenges but contributed to the many teachings he brings with him today.
“I am so pleased that Robert chose to move to Great Bend and to lead the hospital’s human resources efforts,” said Pam Chambers, administrator of Great Bend Regional Hospital. “His knowledge of the business and his vast amount of experience will enable him to make significant contributions to the hospital.”
Bilak said he has been in Great Bend for a little over three months, and the question he receives most often is, Has it been difficult to transition from such a large city such as NYC to Great Bend, Kan.?  “My response has been that there are a few things I do miss but the community is very welcoming and has many opportunities that support my personal beliefs,” he said. “I am honored to be part of such a wonderful organization and look forward to contributing both professionally and personally to the community.
He is an avid runner and is looking forward to the nicer weather to enjoy the hiking trails. Bilak also enjoys community theater, and debuted his amateur acting skills in the recent production of “Enchanted April.” And he enjoys spending quality time with his family – especially his 6-year old nephew, Thomas.
