Arnold Essmiller Jr. of Great Bend, will celebrate his 90th birthday on July 9, with a card shower and family dinner.
Arnold was born on the family farm three miles west of Great Bend on July 9, 1925, to Arabella and Arnold Essmiller Sr. On Jan. 19, 1944, he married Joyce Phillips. A Great Bend resident all his life, he was a farmer and stockman, and founder and former owner of Essmiller Oil Company, a Standard Oil/ Amoco distribution company. He and his wife have three daughters, Jan Bolick of Carmel, Ind., ArNell Briel (Jon) of Great Bend, and Jadean Takao (Eric) of Kailua, Hawaii; four grandchildren, Brent (Amy) Bolick of Jacksonville, Fla., Wendy (Shane) Sundahl of Larned, Robin, (Matt) Murphy of Fishers, Ind. and Hayley (Shane) Dicks of Great Bend; and eight great-grandchildren, Sophie and Olivia Bolick, Conner Deer, Brady Murphy, Dalton and Parker Dicks, and Slade and Darby Sundahl.
