Clayton Karst 90th

Clayton Karst celebrated his 90th birthday on March 9, with a dinner held in his honor at Montana Mike’s in Great Bend. Attending were his sisters, Isabella Dumler of Hoisington and Pauline Ray of Junction City; daughters, Jan Spencer of Overland Park and Sue LaFaver and husband John of Greeley, Colo.; granddaughter, Angela Walts of Odessa, Texas; sister-in-law, Janet Smith of Hoisington; nieces, Barb Nolte and husband Roy of Hoisington, Jolene Hindman, and Patty Stueder and husband Bill, all of Claflin, and Donna Potter of Junction City. A granddaughter Amy LaFaver of Atlanta, Ga. was unable to attend.
Clayton was born in Galatia to Ed and Charlotte Karst. In 1943 he graduated from Hoisington High School. He joined the Marine Corps and served during World War II. On his return he joined his father at Karst Motor Company where he worked for 16 years. He later worked for Big A Auto Parts. In 1946, he married Hilda Herbel and they spent 47 years together until her death in 1993. He married Helen Miller in 1996. She died in 2009. Clayton remains active.
