Dale Burroughs of Ellinwood will celebrate his 80th birthday with an Open House from 2 to 4 p.m. on June 27, at the upstairs room of The Lone Wolf Restaurant, 108 East 1st Street, in Ellinwood. The event will be hosted by his children and their spouses David and Pam Burroughs of Wichita and Dana and Jerry Pfanenstiel of Scott City. He has five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Dale was born on July 2, 1935, in Lyons, to Merle and Ruth Burroughs. On July 7, 1957, he was united in marriage to Mildred Trimble. He was employed for nine years as parts manager at Taylor Equipment in Great Bend. The House Works was a home remodeling business he owned and operated for 25 years in Ellinwood. Since his retirement from his business, he has been the activity bus driver for the Ellinwood Public Schools for 25 years and looks forward to continuing this position. He has been active in the Awana program at First Baptist Church in Ellinwood, from its inception in 1991. Riding the Bike Across Kansas four times brings fond memories to mind.
