Lonnie D. Wright celebrated his 95th birthday on Aug. 30 with a card shower.
Lonnie D. Wright was born on Aug. 30, 1919, in Cuthan, Texas. On Aug. 5, 1945, he married Alberta M. Fleske. He attended school in North Platte, Neb. He joined the Air Force in January 1940 and was an engineer gunner on the B17 of the 19th Bombardment Group 435th Bomb Squadron. He earned the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart, Presidential Citation, three stars and a Pearl Harbor Survivors medal. After the service he farmed on land belonging to his grandparents in the 1870s, until retiring in 1984. His hobby is stamp collecting. He has two children, Alvin J. Wright M.D. and wife Cindy of Puyallup, Wash. and John Lee Wright and wife Pam of Castle Rock, Colo.; five grandchildren, David Wright of San Jose, Calif., Jennifer Allen of Oceanside, Calif., Jeffrey Wright of Renton, Wash., Amy Arias of Castle Rock, Colo., and Jonathon Wright of Castle Rock, Colo.; and seven great-grandchildren.
