A 44-year-old Lyons man died Wednesday in a one-vehicle accident in Rice County.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, James Dean Belote was driving a 1991 Chevrolet south on K-14 at 12:40 p.m., when it went left of center about 0.3 miles south of Ave. K in Lyons. The car went into the east ditch and continued traveling south until it struck a power pole. The vehicle then traveled another 65 feet in the ditch. Belote, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to the Lyons Hospital.
