An injury crash near Redwing sends a Claflin woman to hospital.

Barton County Sheriff Deputies responded to a vehicle injury crash at 10:37 a.m. on Wednesday at Redwing. Upon their arrival, the deputies found a semitrailer had collided with a sport utility vehicle, Sheriff Brian Bellendir said.
According to reports, the investigation at the scene indicated a 2007 Kenworth T 600 operated by Zachary Rabenseifner, 23, of Great Bend was westbound on K-4 preparing to make a right-hand turn. A 2005 Nissan Xterra operated by Aubrey Alcorn, 23, of Claflin was also westbound.
Alcorn reportedly attempted to pass the tractor-trailer on the right shoulder as the truck was making a right turn. The Nissan struck the right front bumper of the Kenworth, went into a skid and overturned. Alcorn was ejected from the vehicle. She was taken to Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington and later transferred to a Wichita hospital. Her condition was not known Wednesday afternoon.
Rabenseifner was not injured.
“The Sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by Hoisington Fire and EMS units, the Kansas Highway Patrol and the Kansas Department of Transportation,” Bellendir said. “K-4 was closed for approximately one hour to clean up debris and conduct the investigation.”
