Convicted sex offender Jimmy Wayne Gilliam is scheduled for a parole hearing with the Prisoner Review Board in January.
Gilliam, 25, was convicted of aggravated indecent liberties for fondling a child younger than 14 years old in 2014 in Barton County.
He was convicted after entering a plea to the crime in January of 2017. Amy Mellor, who was Barton County Attorney at the time, stated the conviction stemmed from a crime that occurred between May and September of 2014. Due to the nature of the crime and the fact that the victim was a juvenile, no additional information was released.
He was sentenced in 2018 and paroled in Barton County on Nov. 25, 2019. According to the Kansas Department of Corrections, a warrant was issued for his arrest on June 8 of this year for a parole violation and on July 1 he returned to prison to serve his original sentence.
He is incarcerated at Lansing Correctional Facility where his custody level is high-medium.
No public comment sessions will be held in December. Any citizen who would like to express comments may send a letter to Kansas Department of Corrections, Prisoner Review Board, 714 SW Jackson St., Suite 300; Topeka, KS 66603.
