Don Davis, resident of Great Bend, has announced his intention to run as a Republican Candidate for Barton County Commissioner in the 3rd District.
• Don was born in Greensburg, Kansas.
• He graduated from Hoisington High School in 1960.
• Attended Barton County Community College
• A resident of Barton County since 1967
• Enlisted in the United States Navy in 1960 and served honorably until1966
• A Veteran of the Vietnam Era and a member or the American Legion
• Married Lucille Karolin in 1961 and recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with family and friends
• The couple has three grown children along with their spouses.
• Eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter (One grandson is currently enlisted in the United States Navy and another in the United States Army)
• Devoted Christian
• Member and Deacon at Community Christian Church in Great Bend
• Has worked jobs in agriculture and in the oilfield
• Former business owner
• Over the road Team Captain for the Kansas Motor Carriers Association
• Taught numerous students about road safety with commercial vehicles, yearly safety and Hazmat training courses
• Retired from Wal-Mart Transportation (Professional Truck Driver) and has driven over the road for the past 16 years
• Has earned 1.5 million safety miles without accidents or tickets while working for Wal-Mart
• Enjoys working with people and the public
• He will strive to help improve the economy and jobs in Barton County.
• He will welcome any suggestions or recommendations from the community to help improve the lives of Barton County citizens
