The criteria for the scholarship are: the students need to be an education major attending a Kansas college, they need to attend either of Alan’s Alma Maters, Barton Community College or Fort Hays State University, and they must also show leadership in high school by holding an office in a school activity. Funds for this scholarship were raised from the Big Al’s Memorial Basketball tournament that was held from 2006 to 2011.
