First-ever Zach Bealer Memorial Award presented

The inaugural Zach Bealer Memorial Award was presented at Washburn University’s Law Clinic end-of-semester breakfast on April 23. The Zach Bealer Memorial Award funded by the Public Interest Scholarship is awarded to a Clinic student whose employment upon graduation will be primarily serving under-represented or under-served individuals, communities, and/or nonprofit groups. Qualified students must be enrolled in or have successfully completed clinic, demonstrate an interest in public service, and be committed to legal employment in the public interest field (defined broadly).

During his time at Washburn University, Zach demonstrated excellent service at the Law Clinic. It is an honor that Zach’s legacy lives on through this award. The recipient of the inaugural award is Gabby Hill. Gabby is from Kansas City, Mo., and received her undergraduate degree from University of Missouri - Kansas City.

Zach Bealer (1989-2022) was a native of Great Bend, graduating from Great Bend High School in 2008. His parents are Ruth Schiller and Rick Bealer.
