  Women's History Day celebrated

FORT LARNED — Calling all grade school students!
While you are enjoying a bit of free time you can celebrate Women’s History Month at Fort Larned National Historic Site. Fort Larned is planning a variety of activities designed for children, ages 6 through 12, from 1 to 3 p.m.  Tuesday.
Dress up and step back in time to see what life was like for the women and children of Fort Larned.
Students will become part of another era. Park Ranger Ellen Jones will lead fun activities as the teacher in the one-room school and the laundress overseeing chores at the dugout. Children will enjoy these old fashioned lessons and chores!
Finally, we will experience games a mother or an older sister would organize on Officer’s Row.  A homemade craft and a take–home souvenir are part of this program.  Outdoor activities will be moved inside in case of inclement weather.
Fort Larned National Historic Site is six miles west of Larned on K-156.   Open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., information on visiting is on the internet at www.nps.gov/fols, or by calling 620-285-6911.  There is no admission fee.
