Chamber coffees set
LARNED — The Larned Chamber of Commerce has scheduled coffee hour the next three Thursdays. For information, call 620-285-6916.
• April 25, 9:30 a.m. A coffee hour will feature Sen. Mitch Holmes and Rep. John Ewy April 25 at the Chamber office, 502 Broadway.
• May 2, 9:30 a.m. A coffee hour will feature the Pawnee County Veterans Memorial Committee and the American Legion Riders May 2. An update will be provided on the progress of the Pawnee County Veterans Memorial.
• May 9, 9:30 a.m. Tourism in Pawnee County will be showcased May 9 at Fort Larned National Historic Site, west of Larned on K-156. Guests will hear about Fort Larned and its significance to the community and state.

Quilting Bees meet
LARNED — Coleen Wolf chaired the April 16 meeting of the Quilting Guild. Congratulations goes to Coleen Wolf for winning an online Shop Hop monetary award.
A thank you note was read from Darcy VanMeter for the recent prayer quilt.
Former member Janis Lewis of Poulsbo, Wash. sent pictures of recent quilts she has made.
Waneta Mausolf shared several newsletters from other quilt guilds.
Thanks goes to Cheryl Skalsky for gifts of pattern books and to Opal Macy for fabric from her stash to the members.
Announcements included the Quilters Celebration scheduled for Saturday June 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Larned Presbyterian Church.
Demonstrations, door prizes, Country Store, lunch and a presentation on Long Arm quilting by Gina Janes of Hannibal, Mo. The public is invited to the free event. For additional information call 620-285-6033.
Diann Morell demonstrated “Binding Revisited”, with tips for binding for fair competion. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 7 and will include the fat quarter drawings on Rain and Flowers and a demonstration.
Show and Tell participants were Opal Macy, 11 quilt tops and the “Contray Husband” quilt; Alice Clapsaddle, two flannel baby guilts in yellow, blue and pink and two little girl’s skirts featuring pink and black kitties; Diann Morell, “Sunflower and Wheat” table topper; and five prayer quilts by Coleen Wolf.
