CLAFLIN —The Kasselman Family of rural Claflin continued their tradition of hosting another very successful Fall Fun Festival with all proceeds being donated to Kans for Kids Fighting Cancer Foundation on Sept. 28. This was the 9th year for the event and the largest to date with an estimated 900 people in attendance.
Throughout the beautiful fall afternoon, guests enjoyed a variety of activities that included horseback riding, goat milking, bounce houses and a velcro wall, paintball target shooting, horse drawn wagon rides, a petting zoo, Kansas Kandids photo booth and much more, as well as concessions that included homemade snack items donated by the generous hearts of many.
The pumpkin patch was again a great success with pumpkins and gourds sold throughout the afternoon.
The Fall Fun Festival was begun as a birthday celebration for then 8-year-old Kylee Kasselman. The event has grown tremendously over the years. Added to the proceeds this year were memorial contributions in memory of Mike Strobl, Ellinwood, whose family generously designated Kans for Kids’ Fall Fun Festival in his memory.
Kans for Kids is currently providing assistance for two Great Bend boys, Kadin, 12 and Dade, 10, who are both undergoing a three year regimen of treatment for leukemia (ALL).
