HOISINGTON — The Cub Scouts from Post 130 exchanged high fives and congratulations. The Tigers, Bears, Wolves and Weblos determined who had the best Pinewood Derby race car.
The boys constructed the Grand Prix Pinewood Derby cars with official wheels and axles. Each car had to pass inspection for proper width, lenghth and weight.
Special awards were passed out to Kameron Schneweis, best craftsmanship; Troy White, best paint job; Camdon Nickelson, most wacky car; Brayden Konzem, most creative; and Noah Dolezal, overall best in show.
Chase Maier captured the overall
championship by beating cars constructed by runner-up Kameron Schneweis and Nick Axman.
Maier won the Wolves Division ahead of runner-up Noah Dolezal and Evan Folts. Nick Axman won the Tigers and Bears Division ahead of runner-up Braden Copp and Elliot Copp. Kameron Schneweis won the Weblos Division with Camdon Nickelson finishing second and Jacok Briet third.
The youngsters will compete in another Pinewood Derby March 31 at the St. John Oddfellows Hall.
