Severe weather starts in western Kansas

WICHITA -- The National Weather Service in Wichita has forecast the possibility of severe weather Monday evening in central Kansas, including Barton County.

In Dodge City and Goodland, the National Weather Service had issued a blizzard warning, a tornado warning, a winter storm watch and several thunderstorm warnings. The thunderstorms were moving northeast at 50 mph.

The tornado warning were issued in Stevens, Kearney, Grant and Haskell counties and Finney County by 4:30 p.m. The tornado was confirmed by weather spotters.
