A Great Bend man with prior drug convictions returned to prison last week after violating parole and being caught with methamphetamine. Aaron Michael Taylor, 32, is incarcerated at the Lansing Correctional Facility.
Taylor, who is known by the alias “Outlaw,” was arrested on Feb. 3 and charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 5 drug felony. He was also charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana and paraphernalia – a lighter and smoking pipes – but those charges were dropped when he entered a guilty plea to the felony.
He was sentenced on Nov. 12 by Barton County District Judge Carey Hipp to 30 months (2 years and 6 months) in custody of the Kansas Department of Corrections. Taylor remained at the Barton County Jail until Dec. 23, when he was transported to Lansing.
According to the Kansas Department of Corrections, his earliest possible release date is May 5, 2021. His custody level has not yet been determined.
He was convicted of possession of drugs in 2011 and of attempting to contribute to a child’s misconduct/concealing a runaway in 2014. Both of those crimes were committed in Barton County but are no longer active.
However, Taylor has three Thomas County convictions in northwest Kansas that are active: distribution or possession with intent to distribute marijuana in 2016; using a communications facility to arrange a sale or purchase in 2015; and criminal possession of a weapon by a felon in 2015.
