USD 428 board will review audit

The 2023-2024 audit report from AdamsBrown is on the agenda for the next Great Bend USD 428 Board of Education meeting, set for 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at the District Education Center, 1809 24th St. The agenda also includes:

• First reading seeking approval of CTE Fine Arts Credits – Great Bend High School is seeking approval to make additional CTE courses eligible to count as a fine arts credit, which is a graduation requirement. GBHS administration and CTE instructors will present their proposal. Items presented for “first readings” may be accepted or deferred to a “second reading” at a later meeting.

• First Reading of the PreK-12 Health Living Curriculum Adoption – The District Healthy Living team will present their recommendation for the adoption of materials for the PreK-12 social, emotional, and character development curriculum. 

• Approval to Request 2025-2026 E-Rate Funding – The federal funding will be used for internet services provided through Nextech. 

• Curriculum reports on state assessments, professional development and more, including announcing plans for a Preschool and Kindergarten Pre-enrollment Information Fair from 5-7:30 p.m. on April 16 at the Little Panthers Preschool.

• Business and operations reports on the District Safety Committee, property and casualty insurance, and suggested changes to the GBMS HVAC and GBHS boiler update. Other project updates will be provided on cameras for GBHS and plans for the Washington School building.

• Superintendent’s reports on the legislature, substitute leave, Kansas Blueprint for Literacy, RISE program, Executive Leadership Academy and Eisenhower Elementary outdoor basketball court donation discussion.

• The monthly director’s report will be given by Tonya Miller, director of Human Resources.
