Wall That Heals presentation on County Commission agenda

The Barton County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main in Great Bend. The meeting will be open to the public but will also be streamed through Microsoft Teams. Citizens may view the meeting through their own sign-in or by signing in anonymously.

The agenda includes:

• A presentation on the Wall That Heals, a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial along with a mobile Education Center coming to Great Bend May 11-14.

• A resolution establishing a temporary burn ban.

• Consideration of three Facade Improvement Grant applications.

• A discussion of the South Central Kansas Association of Commissioners and Engineers meeting last week.

• A Courthouse improvement project lease agreement –with Concept Commercials LLC for property at 1520 Main.

• The return of COVID-19 grant funding awarded to the Barton County Health Department.

Following the agenda meeting, the following appointments are scheduled:

• 10:15 a.m. – Great Bend Economic Development  Sara Arnberger, executive director of Great Bend Economic Development Inc.

• 11 a.m. – Facade Improvement Grant application review with Chelsea Morris.  

• 11:15 a.m. – regular business discussion with Matt Patzner, county administrator.
