WICHITA — Barton County is included in a winter weather advisory by the National Weather Service in Wichita for central Kansas until 6 p.m. Thursday.
A light mix of freezing rain and ice is forecast to be followed by snow. Areas north and east of Barton County are forecast to be hardest hit by the winter storm. Ice accumulations will be minimal but just enough to possibly create a thin glaze.
Snow possibly mixed with freezing rain and sleet at the onset will expand from the west mid to late Wednesday afternoon and continue Wednesday night possibly lingering into the day on Thursday. The snow may change back over to freezing drizzle from west to east Wednesday night.
Snow and ice accumulations snow accumulations will generally range from one to three inches with localized four-inch amounts possible in Saline County and portions of central and north-central Kansas.
Roads may become snow-packed or slick resulting in hazardous travel conditions.
