BEACON HILLS The final season of MTVs Teen Wolf is underway, which might feel like the wrong time to get involved in the supernatural teen drama. But there is no bad time to head to Beacon Hills.

Teen Wolf is the best parts of The Vampire Diaries, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Supernatural combined. It has themes of strength, friendship and being your own anchor. There are complex explorations of many mythologies along with lots of interesting creatures.

But its really about the relationships: friendships between high schoolers and communication between parents and teenagers that is truly exemplary. The cast is diverse without flaunting it and incredibly talented. Watching their on-screen interactions evolve and change is truly a delight.

Here are the five best Teen Wolf episodes to watch or re-watch before sinking your teeth into season 6:

"Venemous"

Season 2 Episode 5

This episode solves the mystery of the kanima, while letting Dereks (Tyler Hoechlin) pack face off against Scotts (Tyler Posey). There is a lot of taunting, a few hold-your-breath moments and ultimately a shocking reveal.

"Battlefield"

Season 2 Episode 11

With Jackson (Colton Haynes) on the loose at the lacrosse final, Scott and his friends have to stop him from creating havoc while still trying to win the game. Stiles (Dylan OBrien) takes a stab at being a star on the field.

"Motel California"

Season 3 Episode 6

An incredibly spooky and emotional episode, its practically a mini horror movie. Not to be missed. Or spoiled.

"Illuminated"

Season 3 Episode 16

At a blacklight party, the pack is hunted down one by one by a supernatural entity that is checking to see who of their friends has been possessed by an evil spirit.

(All of this season is phenomenal, especially the back half that features OBrien in a chilling performance as the bad guy.)

"Perishable"

Season 4 Episode 9

A deadpool with all the supernatural creatures in Beacon Hills has been made public with prices attached to all the heads of the people with powers. Someone tries to kill Parrish (Ryan Kelley), and Lydia (Holland Roden) tries to source the deadly list.

After a weak season 5, the show looks like its back on its feet to deliver its final episodes with a hearty howl at the moon.

All episodes are available to stream through Amazon Prime or on DVD.
