In a poll conducted by Ipsos, respondents were asked to pit actual presidential candidates against Star Wars characters because who isnt on the Star Wars bandwagon right now?
The poll results found that villain and Galactic Empire right-hand man Darth Vader would beat Trump in a head-to-head matchup among millennial respondents with 27 percent support. Trump only garnered 18 percent support among millennials.
Minorities, too, favored the Sith Lord over Trump, with 26 percent of respondents choosing Darth Vader over the 13 percent who would choose Trump. However, Trump would be no match for Yoda, who doubled Trump in the poll, garnering 42 percent of the vote among the general public.
Strong with this one, the force is.
But there is some hope for the business mogul, as long as Chewbacca is his opponent. Ipsos said the poll results found a statistical dead heat among the two. Maybe its a hair thing.
On the Democratic side, front-runner Hillary Clinton remains strong even against Darth Vader. In this hypothetical matchup, Clinton would beat Darth Vader 32 percent to 16 percent; however, Yoda remains a favorite, beating Clinton easily among millennials (50 percent to 26 percent) and the general public (41 percent to 25 percent).
Whether its because of this weeks release of Episode 7, or general disdain among Americans with their political system, this data suggests that the Jedi Order is vastly more popular than either the Republican or Democratic Party, said Chris Jackson, vice president at Ipsos Public Affairs, in a prepared statement.
As we have seen in much of the political data this year, our Republic is more fractured than in recent history; however, it seems that the force could surround us and bind the universe together.
