LA LA LAND Did you know that one of the biggest musical instrument collections in the world is in Arizona?

Brazilian filmmaker Joe Penna (aka YouTuber MysteryGuitarMan) knew. He recently took advantage of the over 6,000-instrument collection at the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix, with a video called One Man, 90 Instruments.

The title is fairly self-explanatory, and indeed the video shows Penna playing 90 different instruments, but he doesnt just play them to try them out. He arranges and mashes up different instruments and sounds into a supercut of Miserlou, an old Greek folk song that was made famous by surf guitarist Dick Dale and the Deltones in 1962.

While Penna certainly is musical and plays more than one instrument well, its unclear if hes actually playing the huge array of instruments featured in the video. In fact, Im fairly certain he isn't, but Im not an expert in spotting playing-an-instrument frauds, so I would love to be proven wrong.

Either way, the video is delightful and well worth a watch. Plus, if you keep your eyes peeled, youll see both a super tiny harmonica and what must be the biggest upright bass in existence.

MIM not only features geographically and culturally focused instrument exhibits, but it is currently exhibiting collections highlighting Taylor Swift, The Carter Family and Johnny Cash and Pablo Picasso. Visit its website to learn more.
