Bernadine M. “Bert” Homolka, 90, died April 1 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born March 17, 1922 in Dubuque, she was the daughter of Edward and Mary (Feltes) Klusener. In May 1944, she married Leonard F. Homolka in Reno, Nev. He died on April 11, 2003. A resident of Great Bend most of her life, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Homolka was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, the National Shrine of St. Jude and AARP.
Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Gayle Espinosa of Great Bend; and two sisters, Mildred Prideaux of Dayton, Ohio and Christina Klusener of Great Bend. She was preceded in death by four brothers, August “Slim” Klusener, Richard Klusener, Leonard Klusener, and Marion Klusener; and one sister, Deloris “Dot” Steuri-McDowell.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Great Bend Cemetery with Father Reginald A. Urban officiating. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association or Central Kansas Association for the Visually Impaired, in care of the funeral home.
