Bobby Gene Arnold 1933-2011
ANDERSON, Mo. — Bobby Gene Arnold, 78, died May 23, 2011 at his home.
He was born January 26, 1933 in Hoisington, the son of the late Alfred Edward and Rosa Faye (Lacy) Arnold.
He was a 1951 graduate of Anderson High School. He married Bettie Lou Johnson June 1, 1952. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army during the Korean War as a forward observer Staff Sergeant from 1952 to 1955.
Gene worked as a machinist for Hallmark Cards while attending diesel mechanic school in Kansas City. He worked as a diesel mechanic for Doonan Motors in Great Bend for 10 years.
He worked as a mechanic at McCracken Motors in Anderson. Mo. in 1966 before operating A&A Fina Service Station with his brother Leon. Gene was a self-employed mechanic until the time of his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Bettie Lou Arnold, his wife of 51 years, who died October 29, 2003; two siblings, Darlene Rose Arnold and Estelle Alfred Arnold; a brother in-law, Fred F. Johnson; and a son in-law, Miguel Angel Terradas.
Survivors include three daughters, Bettie Jean Gilliam and husband, Les, Anderson, Mo.; Diana Kay Gideon and husband, Larry, Baxter Springs; Shirley Ann Terradas and John Michael Ghezzi, Jesup, Ga; three grandchildren, Will Terradas, Mary Charlotte Terradas and L.J. Gideon; a great grandson, William Jaden Terradas; a brother, Leon Arnold, Great Bend; and as a host of other family and friends.
Graveside funeral services with full military honors are scheduled at 2 p.m. Friday, May 27 at the Union Cemetery near Stella, Mo. with Bro. David Munoz officiating.
Visitation is scheduled from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes.
