HOISINGTON — David Anthony Powell, 54, died June 16, 2011 at his home in Hoisington.
He was born Aug. 27, 1956 in Hutchinson, the son of Cyrus Eugene and Eulalia (Garza) Powell. On Sept. 16, 1977, he married Karen Van Wey in Red Cloud, Neb. He was employed by Allen Drilling, Doonan GMC and Peterbilt, and Walmart. He was a hobbyist, pet lover and liked gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Powell, Smith Center; his mother, Eulalia Powell, Lyons; a son, Jerad Powell and wife Brashel, Great Bend; two sisters, Joyce Sheridan and husband Jim, Mart, Texas; and Shirley Chitwood and husband Carl, Arizona City, Ariz.; three brothers, Jess Higgins and wife Kay, Lyons; Donny Higgins and wife Sharon, Omaha, Neb.; and Paul Powell, Newton; and a grandchild, Kambree Powell.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cyrus Powell; stepfather, Jess Higgins; a brother, Bobby Higgins.
Funeral services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Monday, June 27 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Fisher officiating. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
