ANNA, Texas — Dr. William Lawrence Smith Jr., 89, of Anna, Texas, passed away on Oct. 15. He was born Aug. 1, 1922, in Stafford, to William Lawrence Smith Sr. and Elsie Fern (Carr) Smith. On June 21, 1943, he married Nadine Lorene Block, in Martinez, Calif.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Nadine Smith of Anna, Texas; three sons, Larry Smith and wife Lynn of Plano, Texas, Richard Smith and wife Eberle of Rockwall, Texas, and Keith Smith of Coupeville, Wash.; a daughter, Phyllis Wiuff and husband Bruce of McKinney, Texas; a sister, Carolyn Ives and husband Bob of St. John; 11 grandchildren, Zack Smith, Will Smith and wife Joy, Christopher Smith and wife Alissa, Sheryl Norris, and husband Rick, Austen Kennedy, Travis Smith, Aaron Smith, Eric Wiuff, April Propst and husband Jeff, Robert Wiuff and wife Alissa, Nathan Wiuff and fiancé Ashlee; and seven great-grandchildren, Ava Mae Smith, Ross Stephenson Smith, Caiden Lawrence Smith, Kiyah McKenna Smith, Thomas Eliot Propst, Madeline Denell Askins, and Emma Paige Wiuff.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Timothy Lane and Brian Lynn Smith; and a daughter, Susan Renee Smith.

A private graveside service was held at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. A memorial service took place on Oct. 18 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, in Allen, Texas, officiated by Pastor Michael Moonoo.
