SUN CITY WEST, Ariz. — Edward R. Moses of Sun City West, Ariz. passed away March 29, 2012 at age 91.
He was born Oct. 15, 1920 in Great Bend to Edward Moses II and Jessica Lee Isbell.
Ed served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He participated in the liberation of the Phillipines as well as the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. His squadron was one the first to drop relief supplies to Hiroshima. He also served during the Korean Conflict. After graduating from the University of Kansas he practiced law in Great Bend, Kansas for 40 years. He supported several charitable organizations of art and education including the University of Kansas Endowment. Ed’s greatest passion was flying holding a valid pilot’s license for over 72 year and logging over 12,000 hours.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Urich-Moses; children, Edward Moses (Cindi); Jessica Harrison (Steve); James Moses, Nancy Moses, Kirk Rodgers (Vicki), Joell Ireland, Susan McCaslin (Brian), Ann Urich, Vernon Urich, and David Urich; 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Marian Isern, Grace Hammond and Isbell Wesley. He was also preceded in death by his wives Olive Moses and Bet Moses; son David Moses, and stepson Joseph Urich.
A Funeral Mass is scheduled at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 4 at Prince of Peace, 14818 W. Deer Valley Drive, Sun City West, Ariz. 85375. A reception following Mass will take place at the Briarwood Country Club. Inurnment, with military honors, will take place at the National Memorial Cemetery.
