James L. Blakey 1935 - 2013

ames L. Blakey, 77, died Feb. 17 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born July 28, 1935 in Great Bend, he was the son of William and Esther (Langrehr) Blakey. In June 1970, he married Dorothy Parker in Hoisington. She died on March 3, 1973. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, he was a Juvenile Corrections Caseworker for Larned State Hospital.
Mr. Blakey was a United States Army veteran.
Survivors include, two step-daughters, Dorsha Ratledge and her husband L.J. of Great Bend and Debbie Brown and her husband Sequoyah of Booker, Texas; one sister, Janis Blakey of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; six grandchildren, Kelly Shull, Tina Shull, Adam Shull, Sunny Merrill, Chelsey Brown, and Shaley Brown; 11 great-grandchildren. Kayli Marie, Kynli, Courtney, Tailyn, Adrian, Kristopher, Logan, Tobin, Kaitlyn, Sloan, and Ruby.
Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
