ST. JOHN — Jean (Cadman) Astle, 87, died Apr. 25 at South Wind Hospice, Pratt. She was born June 3, 1924, at Moscow, Kan., the daughter of James H. and Ila F. (Lindsey) Cadman. She moved to St. John in 1964 where she was a homemaker and former aide for St. John Hospital.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend.
On Nov. 11, 1949, she married Bill Astle in Hutchinson. He survives, of the home. Other survivors include a daughter, Ann Franco, Bakersfield, Calif.; two sons, Chuck Astle, Larned, and Jim Astle and wife Debra, St. John; sisters, Elaine Fehrenbacher, Wichita, and Twila Nichols, Orange Park, Fla.; six grandchildren, Ila Taylor, Iric Mawhirter, Alicia Chism, Sarah Astle, Irin Mawhirter and Tori Astle; and two great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by four brothers, James, Harold Jr., Phillip and Paul Cadman; and a sister, Barbara Ervin.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 28 at Minnis Chapel, St. John, with the Rev. Jim Strasen presiding. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Laurel Cemetery, Haven, with Ila Taylor presiding. Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to South Wind Hospice in care of the funeral home.
