Jeffery D. Munz, age 68 of Great Bend, KS, passed away at his home in Great Bend on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 22, 2023. Jeffery was born on March 30, 1954 at St. John, KS to Karl and Ruby (Lambert) Munz. He served in the U.S. Army, and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Kansas and his Master’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Missouri – Kansas City. He moved to Great Bend in 1983 from Westport, Kansas City, MO and worked as Accountant for Lee Turner and Turner Farms in Great Bend, and Dechant & Taylor Chartered Accounting in La Crosse, KS prior to his retirement in 2016. Jeffery enjoyed traveling and taking photographs, hunting, gardening, carpentry, and loved to play Bridge. He was an avid K.U. Jayhawks Basketball fan.
Survivors include one son, Samuel (and Tayler) Munz of Wamego, KS and one daughter, Lucy K.M. Munz of Essex, VT; two grandchildren: James and Madeline Munz; his partner Janet Oberle of Salina, KS; two brothers: Juan (and Belinda) Munz of St. John, KS and Rev. Jerry (and Joyce) Munz of Lakeland, FL; one sister Jodine (and Douglas) Trout of Osceola, MO; one brother-in-law Chuck Theel of Olathe, KS; nine nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and great-nephews, and countless friends. Jeffery was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Julie Theel.
According to his wishes, cremation has been chosen and a Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the First Congregational Church of Christ in Great Bend with Pastor Mike Munz officiating. Inurnment will follow at Trinity Cemetery near Hudson, KS. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Charter Funerals in Great Bend.
