PAWNEE ROCK — Larry Hayes Marshall, 73, died March 28, 2012 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita.
Born Jan. 28, 1939 in Kansas City, he was the son of Paul and Opal (Alley) Marshall. He was a 1957 graduate of Ellinwood High School. On June 28, 1959 he married Edith J. Jenkins in Garden City. She died on Jan. 24, 2009. A lifetime resident of Barton and Pawnee County, he was a salesman for Liggett, Myers, Pinkerton Tobacco Co. Following his retirement, Mr. Marshall delivered The Hutchinson News to western Kansas, managed Marshall’s Pit-Stop Barbeque, helped at Young Auto Sales and went on wrecker calls with his son.
Mr. Marshall was a life member of the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include a son, Larry Marshall and his wife Sheree, Great Bend; a daughter, Paula Hinds, Ellinwood; five grandchildren, Joni Hinds, John Paul Hinds, Ona Marshall, Shatlyn Marshall, and Dariane Marshall; three great-grandchildren; and an English Cocker Spaniel, Snickers.
Funeral services are scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce Adamson officiating. Burial will be at the Pawnee Rock Cemetery. Friends may visit from 1 to 9 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Kans for Kids in care of the funeral home.
