Larry Laurence Nutting, 84, passed away Aug. 28, 2023, at the University of Kansas Health System – Great Bend Campus. He was born Dec. 25, 1938, in Haskell County, Kan. to Harlie Edwin and Helen Luticia (Sanders) Nutting. He married Dorothy Welsch Feb. 14, 1960, in Kinsley.
A longtime Great Bend resident, Larry was the Director of Manufacturing for Cross Manufacturing, Lewis, and Fuller Brush Industries, Great Bend, retiring in 2003. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Kinsley and attended Encounter Church in Great Bend. He taught Sunday School and was passionate about spreading the Good News of Christ’s Salvation through his membership of Gideons International. Larry was a Boy Scout Troop Leader and Royal Rangers Leader, and enjoyed nature, especially hunting and fishing.
Survivors include, his wife Dorothy of the home; a daughter, Lori Katz and husband Randy of Wichita; two sons of the heart, Mark Welsch and Troy Welsch; a brother, Michael Nutting (Carla) of Crosby, Texas; a sister, Rita Giles of Saskatchewan, Canada; two grandchildren, Tara Katz (Tyson Bean) and Kelsey Aitchison (Samuel); and one great grandson, Asher Aitchison. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Harlie Nutting, Jr.; and a sister, Eleanor Smith.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, at Lewis Cemetery in Lewis, Kan., with Pastor Dwight Dozier presiding. Memorials have been designated to Gideons International, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net
