BUSHTON — Larry R. Schroeder, 71, of Bushton, died Tuesday, May 17, in Peoria, Ill. He was surrounded by his loving family. Born Jan. 24, 1940 in Ellsworth, he was the son of Robert Schroeder and Myrtle Weihe. He grew up in Lorraine, along with his sister Nancy, who survives. On Jan. 28, 1961 he married JoEllen Maes, who survives. They made their home in Bushton, and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He was a farmer, who also enjoyed hunting, fishing and attending athletic events.

Mr. Schroeder was a member of NRA and Pheasants Forever. He was active in the community through his involvement with BCDI.

Survivors include his three children, Shelly (preceded in death by her husband Mark) Densberger of Dunlap, Ill.; Jill (Matt) Sprick of Hiawatha; and Scott Schroeder of Bushton. He was also a proud grandfather of five grandchildren: Alexa, Kori, Jordan, Krista, and Justin. Their family also included Linda (Jerry) Huff; Dan Maes, and Jim (Marilyn) Maes.

The family will be receiving friends from 2 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, at the Bushton Community Building in Bushton. A private service will follow.
