RUSSELL — Margaret Helen (Winter) Bloomer, 77, passed away Dec. 18, 2015, at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. Born Oct. 2, 1938, in Flora, Ill., she was the daughter of the Rev. Alfred John and Dorothy Ann (Grother) Winter. She graduated from Bosse High School in Evansville, Ill. and attended two years at the University of Evansville. On Jan. 6, 1962, she was united in marriage to Dean V. Keil in Russell. On Sept. 14, 1991, she was united in marriage to Joseph C. “Joe” Bloomer in Russell. She was a Librarian Secretary for Ruppenthal Middle School from 1976 to 2002. She also worked as the Librarian Assistant for the Russell City Library. Earlier in life she worked at the Russell A. & W. and T.G.&Y.
Mrs. Bloomer was an active member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church and the church choir.
Survivors include her husband of 24 years, Joe of the home; daughters, Cheryl Nelson, Great Bend and Kathy Louder, Russell; a brother, Alfred John Winter, Wichita; a sister, Marie Louise Meth, Evansville, Ind.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Celebration of Margaret’s Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Peace Lutheran Church in Natoma. Burial will follow at the Natoma Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, with the family present to from 6 to 7 p.m. Memorials have been established with The Lutheran Hour or Relay For Life in care of the funeral home.
