HOISINGTON — Mary Ann Schreiber, 81, died April 7, 2012 at Sterling House in Great Bend. Born Sept. 12, 1930 in Brownell, she was the daughter of William Halbleib and Elvah Longstreth and Clyde Ricks. On Feb. 28, 1949 she married Richard J. Schreiber in Ransom. He died on July 4, 1994. She grew up in Brownell moving to Beaver in 1951 and later to Hoisington in 1998.
Mrs. Schreiber was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Altar Society in Hoisington, a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Beaver, past member of D. of I. serving as regent, in Claflin, KIOGA, and Kansas Thoroughbred Association, receiving Horse Person of the year in 2001.
Survivors include two sons, Rick Schreiber and wife Jane of Beaver and Bob Schreiber and wife Denise of Hoisington; two daughters, Cathy Folmnsbee and husband Gary of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Kristi Beran and husband Eric of Odin; nine grandchildren, Aaron Schreiber, Paul Schreiber, David Folmnsbee, John Folmnsbee, Keri Cupp, Anna Clark, Julee Koncak, and Hannah and Sarah Beran; eight great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Christian and Caleb Cupp, Noah, Henry, Owen and Madeline Folmnsbee, and Joel Schreiber; half-brother Chet Halbleib; and two half-sisters, Karen Halbleib and Carol Dinkel.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hoisington with Father pascal Klein and Father Francis Oroffa officiating. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Beaver. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today with a vigil service at 7 p.m. followed by an Altar Society and D. of I. Rosary, all at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, St. Joseph Cemetery or donor’s choice, all in care of the funeral home.
