Paul R. Chisholm, 85, died April 1 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation. Born March 24, 1926 in Raleigh, Miss., he was the son of John U. and Eva (Devlin) Chisholm. A resident of Great Bend since 1954, coming from Mississippi, he was employed by Jones and Laughlin Steel Manufacturing and Mission Manufacturing and later was a farmer and stockman. On Aug. 24, 1957 he married Joan Schartz at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend.

Mr. Chisholm was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II, the European Theater of Operations being stationed in Italy. He was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, the American Legion Argonne Post 180 and the BPO Elks Lodge 1127.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Chisholm, of the home; a son, Scott Chisholm and wife Linda of Great Bend; two grandchildren, Ashley Deann Chisholm and Brenton Paul Chisholm, both of Great Bend; two nieces, Wanda Moore and Mary Ann Myrick, both of Laurel, Miss.; a great-nephew, Chad Myrick of Laurel, Miss.; and two great-nieces, Lauren Jefcoat and Rebecca Moore, both of Laurel. He was preceded in death by a son, Bradley John Chisholm; infant twin daughters; and two sisters, Minnie Matthews and Lucille Mauldin.

Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend with Concelebrants, Father Reginald A. Urban and Father Rene Guesnier. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery with military honors by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Golden Belt Home Health and Hospice or Prince of Peace Parish, in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
