MAPLE HILL — Richard “Brian” Reed, 38, died April 18, 2015, at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center, Topeka. He was born June 1, 1976, at Great Bend, the son of Richard L. Reed and Mary Denise (Keenan) Carroll.
He married Smo Ortiz April 7, 1995, at Lawrence. He was a boxing promoter matchmaker for Empire Sports Management and Promotion.
Mr. Reed lived in the Topeka, Lawrence and Maple Hill area for the past 20 years.
Survivors include his wife Smo Reed, of the home; father Richard L. Reed of Great Bend; mother Denise Keenan Carroll of Mesa, Ariz.; one son, Dalton Reed of Maple Hill; one sister, Shonna R. Young of Broken Arrow, Okla., maternal grandmother Wanda “Ramona” Keenan of Pawnee Rock; one niece, Ashlyn Young, Broken Arrow, Okla.; two nephews, Cory and Colin Young, Broken Arrow, Okla.; godson Kolt Ramey; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 1, at Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. Dick Ogle, officiant. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorial donations may be made to the Dalton Reed Educational Fund or Rosewood Roots & Wings Foundation in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
