Robert Lee “Bob” Martin, 69, died April 9, 2013 at his home in Great Bend. He was born March 5, 1944 at Chico, Calif., the son of Robert M. and Pauline (Shephard) Martin.
He married Carol Jean Gage Sept. 19, 1969 at Dodge City. He was a lineman for C & P Electric and Par Electric and owned and operated M & M Line Construction. He operated Christmas Fantasy Village from 1979 to 2000.
Mr. Martin was a Great Bend resident since 1968 coming from Henryetta, Okla., and Grants, N.M. He was a United States Army veteran, serving during Vietnam. He attended Trinity Lutheran Church.
He is survived by wife, Carol Martin, of the home; mother, Pauline Martin, Henryetta, Okla.; and three sons, Robert Gage, Rick Gage of Great Bend and Randy Martin of Great Bend;
one daughter, Danita Schartz and husband Matt of Great Bend; two brothers, Jack Martin of Bartlesville, Okla., and David Martin of Edmond, Okla.; one sister, Linda Martindale of Henryetta, Okla.; and six grandchildren, Bryce Martin, Nicole Kennedy, Michael Kennedy, Davey Kennedy, Brandon Gage, and Kendon Gage; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in passing by his father, and a son-in-law, Mark Kennedy.
Funeral service is 1 p.m. Friday, at Bryant Funeral Home with The Reverend James A. Strasen and The Reverend John Grummon officiating. Interment will be at Great Bend Cemetery with military rites by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, April 11 and 9 a.m. to service time, Friday at Bryant Funeral Home.
