POTTSVILLE, AR Ruby Olive Dumas, 84, of Pottsville, Ark., passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock, Ark. The daughter of Claude and Ida Boldt Dellinger, she was born Aug. 3, 1931 in Bushton. She was a graduate of Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb. Ruby spent many years teaching school in the Kansas and Nebraska public school system.
She was a loving wife and an amazing mother to three sons and a daughter while pursuing her career. She was an active member of the Pope County Extension Homemakers, Russellville Senior Citizens Center, Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, and Pope County Fair judging committee. She was an active member of the Pottsville United Methodist Church and cherished her church family. She enjoyed crafts, playing cards, gardening, canning, bowling in her early years, traveling to see family, and volunteering in the community, especially loved all of the activities and the friendships of the Extension Homemakers (E.H.) Ladies. She was so very proud of her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lorraine “Lee” Edward Dumas; and six siblings.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law: Lynn Dumas and wife Linda of Sioux City, Iowa; Curtis Dumas and wife Sonia of Mitchell, S.D.; Randolph Dumas and wife Cindy of Brockport, N.Y.. She was also survived by a daughter, Cynthia Appel and husband Steve of Clarinda, Iowa ; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and a sister, Joyce Burress of Ellinwood.
Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, April 18 at Pottsville United Methodist Church. Pastor Millie Bryant will officiate. Burial will be at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock, Ark., by Humphrey Funeral Service, Tuesday, April 19 at 1 p.m. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Sunday, at the funeral home.
