Josh Hendrickson is off to a pretty good start to his sophomore season for the Barton baseball team. The rest of the Jayhawk Conference it taking notice.
After pitching five more innings of shutout baseball against Western Nebraska, the left-handed pitcher was named the Jayhawk Conference Kansas MTXE Pitcher of the Week for the second straight week.
In three outing now this season, Hendrickson, 6-4, has been nearly unscored upon. He has throw 14 innings and given up just a single earned run. That came back in the second inning of his first start when he gave up a solo home run. Since that time, he has gone 12 innings without allowing a run.
Against Western Nebraska, he struck out 10 in his five innings of work, allowing five hits and just one base on balls. He now has 22 strikeouts on the season with an ERA of 0.64.
Barton took an 8-3 record into games over the weekend. The Jayhawk Conference schedule will get underway Thursday with a pair of games against Dodge City. The Cougars will then return to twinbill, heading to Dodge City for two on Saturday.
Hendrickson wins back-to-back Jayhawk awards
