BELOIT — Hoisington's girls broke a school record by winning the 400-meter relay (48.87) at the 3A Beloit track regional to qualify for the state meet. Cardinals Samantha Colson, Sheena Gocela, Macy Hanzlick and Suzanna Schneider broke a record set in 1999.

Colson was a four-event state qualifier with second in the 100-meter hurdled (15.57), second in the 300-meter hurdles (47.9) and third in the 100 meters (12.61). Kylee Hahn qualified for state with fourth place in the 100 hurdles (16.31) and 300 hurdles (49.11). Macy Hanzlick placed third in the 200 meters (26.41).

CARDINAL BOYS — Hoisington's boys matched the girls with a first-place finish in the 400-meter relay (43.92) with Cade Mason, Dylan Richards, Chase Robinson and Legend Robinson competing.

The Cardinals earned nine state berths for the 3A state track meet May 28 at Wichita State.

Josiah Ball placed third in the pole vault (13-0) and fourth in the 300-meter hurdles (43.09). Other state qualifiers were runner-up Chase Robinson, 100 (11.25); third-place Dylan Richards, 200 (22.97); third-place Deryk Yott, 400 (52.98); and fourth-place finishers Bralen Thompson, long jump (19-111/2); Jarrett Shives, pole vault (12-0); and Cade Mason, 100 meters (11.27).

Tiger Carlson wins three events at Kinsley

KINSLEY —Pawnee Heights Tiger Brady Carlson swept first place in the high jump (5-8), long jump (19-01/2) and triple jump (41-51/2) at the Kinsley track meet. The Tigers placed runner-up in the 400-meter relay (56.16). Macksville's Hector Gomez won the 100 meters (11.51) and placed second in the 200 (25.23). Pawnee Heights Tiger Abby Hands won the discus (112-8) and javelin (97-10) and placed second in the shot put (33-111/2). Other first-place winners were Macksville's Diana Ibarra, 100 (13.79) and 200 (30.31). Runner-up medals were earned by Macksville's Ava Chadd, long jump (14-93/4) and Pawnee Heights' Abby Pelton, triple jump (30-71/2).
