Central Plains Oilers earn 7th straight shutout

CENTRAL PLAINS 50, SOUTH GRAY 0

CLAFLIN – Central Plains back Alex Hickel scored two touchdowns as six Oilers scored touchdowns in a 50-0 rout of South Gray in the Eight-Man I football playoffs. The Oilers have posted seven consecutive shutouts and limited the Rebels to minus 18 yards rushing. The Oilers (9-0) will play Ness City (7-2) Nov. 2 in the second round. The Oilers downed Ness City 30-14 in their first meeting.

Hickel scored on 1- and 23-yard runs. Quarterback Myles Menges scored on an 11-yard touchdown and completed a 29-yard touchdown pass to Grant Heldstab. Jerred Bieberle scored on a 20-yard return of a blocked punt. Lawson Oeser and Mason Wimmer added touchdown runs.
