RUSSELL — Ellinwood's Logan Panning placed first in the 400 meters (53.09), second in the 200 (23.51) and fourth in the 100 (11.56)  at Thursday's Russell Track Invitational.

Dawson Sunderland placed third in the 200 (23.88) and fifth in the 100 (11.58).

HOISINGTON — Hoisington's Tristin Compton earned a pair of runner-up finishes in the 800 meters (2:54.46) and 1,600 (6:19.76).

Cardinal Miette Kaiser placed runner-up in the pole vault (5-7). 

"The young athletes had a very solid opening competition," said Hoisington coach Dan Schmidt. "I was pleased with our effort. We posted excellent times for a first meet. We had one good day to prepare for the meet. We had spring break off which was the whole previous week. I really liked what I saw."

Hoisington competed with a mix 24 varsity and junior athletes and left 24 athletes at home to prepare for the April 5 Nickerson Track Invitational.
