Mark Lessard, Larned High School’s head tennis coach, captured first place in the men’s singles competition of the Great Bend Adult Open Tennis Tournament over the weekend at Veteran’s Memorial Park.
Lessard beat Chris Manning, a former Great Bend High School and Bethel College player, in the final match 6-3, 6-1.
Randy Moyers and Austin Jacobs combined to conquer the men’s doubles competition.
The duo topped the Larned doubles team comprised of Lessard and Jerret Johnson, winning 8-4 in the semifinal match. Then beat Manning and Chris Maser of Great Bend 8-2 in the final match.
In the mixed doubles competition, former Barton Community College player Trang Le Nguyen and Michael Canavan of Topeka beat Randy Moyers and Macy Moyers, who took second place, and Lyle Stickney and Danielle Weber, who took third place.
