Wissman leads Cougars in rout of Oilers, 40-14

OTIS — Otis-Bison High School senior running back Dylan Wissman had another monster game, rushing for 307 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Cougars past Central Plains 40-14.
Layne Bieberle scored the Oilers’ two touchdowns in the second quarter on a 72-yard kickoff return and a 14-yard pass from quarterback Bryce Steiner.
Wissman totaled 173 yards and two scores in Otis-Bison’s season opener against St. John.
Central Plains (1-1) travels to St. John on Friday night.
The Cougars head to Hoxie for Week 3.

St. John 40, Victoria 28
VICTORIA — St. John established its passing game early against Victoria.
The Tigers (1-1) got a 22-yard touchdown from wide receiver Francisco Calleros to go ahead 6-0 in the first quarter.
Dean Wade reeled in 12-yard and 33-yard receptions for scores in the first half.
Ethan Long and quarterback Spencer Nusser each rushed for a TD in the second half.
The Knights only rushed for 80 yards against the St. John defense. Sam Ottley completed 6 of 15 passes for 199 yards.
The Tigers host Central Plains on Friday night.

Stafford 50, Burrton 0
BURRTON — Stafford scored 32 points in the first quarter on its way to a shutout.
Ethan Johnson rushed for 125 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Trojans.
Quarterback Austin Ceniti added 56 yards and one score on the ground.
Stafford (1-1) hosts Central Christian for their home opener on Friday night.

La Crosse 34, Hoisington 12
LA CROSSE — La Crosse led 22-12 at halftime, and added to its lead in the second half to beat Hoisington.
The Cardinals got one touchdown on a 5-yard connection from quarterback Hagan Hanzlick to Jeffrey Kaiser, and the second on a Chance Demel 11-yard run.
Hoisington (0-2) travels to Wichita on Friday night to challenge Sunrise Christian Academy.

Ness City 58, Macksville 8
NESS CITY — Ness City controlled Friday night’s Central Kansas League game against Macksville from the beginning.
The Eagles scored 38 points in the first 12 minutes, and 52 before the Mustangs scored their first and only touchdown in the game.
Junior quarterback Tanner Tranbarger scored for Macksville on a 79-yard kickoff return. The Mustangs (0-2) had 20 yards of total offense in the game.
Macksville travels to Kiowa County for Week 3.
