Walnut Bowl participates in national Kids Bowl Free program

Walnut Bowl of Great Bend is participating in the summer program Kids Bowl Free.
That means that any kid 15-and-under who is registered with the program can bowl two free games every day.
Jim Mayberry, owner of Walnut Bowl, says that the program is designed to give children a safe place to spend time during the summer.
“It just provides a place for the kids to come and bowl,” Mayberry said. “I do get a mailing list. They have to have an email (to register). That’s all the owners who participate get out of this, but that’s OK because a lot of kids get to bowl.
“It’s that simple. We get about 500-600 kids registered a summer.”
While the games are free, the shoe rentals are not, so kids who do not have their own shoes will have to pay $2, or $1 on Sundays.
For $25, the whole family can be signed up for the program.
“If you register, you can do just your children, and they get two games of free bowling every day,” Mayberry said. “It goes to August 15 from 11 (a.m.) to 6 (p.m.) during the day. The only thing is they have to wear bowling shoes. So if they don’t have shoes, they’ll have to rent some.
“They also have the family package for $25 where the parents will also get two games for free.”
You can sign up for the program either at Walnut Bowl or online at www.KidsBowlFree.com/WalnutBowl.
