Stanley Hatesohl, M.D., is not only excited about his new medical practice in Great Bend but he also is happy to be close to family and a local non-profit agency that will provide services for his son.
Dr. Hatesohl, a Kansas native, will begin seeing patients Monday, Sept. 24 at St. Joseph Family Medicine, 3520 Lakin. The practice is part of the St. Rose Ambulatory & Surgery Center family.
“I have been impressed with the staff at St. Joseph,” Dr. Hatesohl said. “The facilities are great and the office runs smoothly. I also am impressed with the other St. Rose entities and the many services they provide. The radiology department is up-to-date and the whole facility offers a wide variety of outpatient services.
“I have met with St. Rose’s medical staff and administrators who are top-notch professionals,” he continued. “St. Rose has found a niche that is working well and will be viable in the years to come. This is a good group of health-care providers and I am excited to become a part of it.”
Dr. Hatesohl is board certified in family practice, with an emphasis in geriatrics. He performs some minor surgeries and procedures, and provides care and treatment for the typical medical concerns seen at a family practice clinic.
His wife, Ann, grew up in La Crosse and her family is still in Rush County; Edmund Oborny is her father. “We are looking forward to being closer to our family and spending time with them,” the family practitioner said.
The Hatesohls have five grown children, one of whom is making the move to Great Bend with his parents. Mason, 23, is autistic with a seizure disorder.
“This is another reason we wanted to come to Great Bend,” Dr. Hatesohl said. “Sunflower Diversified Services will provide residential and day services to Mason. We have heard many wonderful things about Sunflower and how it helps people with disabilities.
“We are very impressed by what we saw there and also the knowledge of Sunflower’s staff in regards to autism and disabilities in general,” he added.
Dr. Hatesohl earned a degree in pharmacy in 1980 at the University of Kansas, which was followed by his KU medical degree in 1984. He completed his family practice residency in 1987 at the Baptist Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo.
The physician most recently worked at the Eastern Kansas VA Health Care System in Topeka. Previous employment includes Associates in Primary Care at Clay Center from 2003 to 2008, and Clay Center Family Physicians from 1987 to 2003.
Dr. Hatesohl is a native of Linn, in Washington County.
“I am from a small community and feel Great Bend will be a good fit for our family,” he said. “We are looking forward to making it our home, and hope to become actively involved in the community and church.”
