The Progress Club met on April 4. Hostess was Mary Dikeman with 15 members present.
Mark Mingenback, director of Marketing and Public Relations for Central Kansas Medical Center gave the program. The Dominican Sisters started a hospital in Great Bend in 1903. A number of changes are occurring at CKMC when it becomes St. Rose Ambulatory and Surgery Center on May 1st. The hospital will no longer provide inpatient care, but if an overnight stay is needed the physicians will have admitting privileges at other hospitals. The hospital will continue an outpatient clinic, cancer care, women’s health care, lab work, radiology, physical therapy and a 24-7 emergency room. Home Health and Hospice served 300 patients last year in Barton, Pawnee and Rush Counties. The sleep lab now has four beds. It was a very informative program. Officers elected for next year are: Rosemary Hermann-President; Pat Halbower-Vice-president; Linda Dougherty-Secretary; and Darlene Mathers-Treasurer.
Rosemary Herrmann told about the day trip on May 2 to Greensburg. Several buildings that have been built with the latest green technologies will be on the bus and walking tour. The members will meet at the park swimming pool at 9:15 a.m. to carpool to Greensburg.
