Irene Nielsen

LINDSBORG — Irene Nielsen, certified tea and etiquette consultant and owner of the Main Street Galleria & Studio at 126 N Main, Lindsborg, invites the public to an afternoon exploration and interactions with a Tea Tasting. Dr. Nielsen will provide a brief history of the 5,000 years of tea and the mysteries across the years and continents. Additionally, guests will taste test several varieties of teas that will be available at the Galleria and are presently available at White’s Foodliner (specialty tea section) in Lindsborg.

Acknowledging Chinese origins among the Monks to enhance meditations, tea traversed cultural and religious practices along with porcelain shipped to France, Netherlands, and later to England before taking roots in the new American colonies. Tea remains the most favored beverage – next to water, but proper steeping, storage, and enjoying the loose tea leaves of the true tea Camellia Sinensis plant remains a mystery to many.

Nielsen is a graduate of the Washington School of Protocol and owner of the Karis Finishing School for family, social, and business etiquette awareness. She will weave modern etiquette basic practices into the afternoon with tea tasting.

The Tea Tasting event begins at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15 at the galleria. Guests are invited to attend without charge for a 2-hour interactive experience, but RSVPs are requested for proper preparation. Guests are asked to bring a friend, a chair and $1 for a kitty drawing at the conclusion.

For RSVP registration and more information contact Irene Nielsen at the Galleria, email at irene@galleria-arts.com or message 785-493-5246.
